Who Jumped Down The Stairwell?

Over on Flickr a recent visitor to the Hotel Chelsea recalls an intriguing conversation she had with one of our neighbors. don't jump! that's what the man said as i was taking this (photo). he lives at the chelsea. says two others have jumped. one was successful, the other not. 'he was a murderer and went to jail' said the man.

We too have heard that there have been several people to jump down the stairwell over the years.  We've identified one, Hugh Pearson who lived.  We heard a rumor that the club kid Michael Alig, who murdered Angel Melendez, was either pushed or jumped over the stairwell.  He lived, of course, so maybe he's the murderer.  If you have other guesses, send them in.
