Kings and Queens of New York City: A Drag Summit -- Bringing together some of drag’s best known names and legends including Storme DeLarverie, Flawless Sabrina, Murray Hill, Sade Pendavis, DIYAA (f.k.a. Dred), and Taylor Mac (plus special surprise appearances) this trans-generational congress, moderated by drag historian Joe E. Jeffreys, reflects on the legacy of drag in the city as it considers its changing faces, places, fashions and future. A multi-media discussion, performance event, installation and exhibit exploring male and female impersonation in New York City, the gathered audience will constitute a living history of drag performance in NYC and further extend the panel’s discussion and reflections. Display cases of drag ephemera from the library’s collection will be on display outside the auditorium.
