Earlier this week we were invaded by a film crew. Tractor trailers blocked our access to the street. Bight lights, cameras, and tables filled with food lined the hallways of the Hotel Chelsea and the sidewalks outside the hotel. Production people loitered in the stairwells and the lobby. “What’s going on?” we kept asking. “They’re filming a music video for Rooster,” a young hipster finally deigned to reply: “What the hell is Rooster?” we further inquired. “They’re big in England,” the hipster informed us while confessing she'd never actually listened to their music. Well, isn’t everyone? They must be like the Rolling Stones or something, we figured, with this big of a budget. But no, it turns out they’re just some kind of boy band, like Menudo or New Kids on the Block. (Those are example of boy bands, aren’t they?) I wonder if they crow loud enough to wake the dead! Enjoy the ride boys, while it lasts. And get out of the Chelsea now, while the getting is good. Update: Here's a tourist who got to be an extra! (Ed Hamilton)
