Robert's answers are succinct, but as they say, a painting is worth a thousand words. Robert sent us a recent photo taken in his studio, which is located in a room formerly inhabited by Arthur C. Clarke. In between stops at the Chelsea, Robert can be found cafe sitting at La Palette in Paris.
How long have you lived at the Chelsea? This time, three years.
What inspired you to move into the Hotel? Its the only place that feels like home.
How'd you score your apartment? I called Stanley from Paris, he told me "no problem"
Do you think the Chelsea has a creative spirit? There is a lot of different kinds of energy and intrigues here, thats what gives it its creative juice.
How has living at the Chelsea affected your work? It has allowed me to find new expressions.
What is the best/worst thing that ever happened to you at the Chelsea?
I found the only muse i ever had at the Chelsea.
Do you know if anyone famous has lived in your room?
Arthur C Clark
Stop by the lobby anytime and view one of Robert's paintings. Sometimes you'll even find Robert himself sitting there talking on his cell phone. Just don't criticize his painting if you know what's good for you.
