For our readers in LA, we recommend "Sally on the Mount." According to Jeanne Darst, writer and performer, the show does mention the Chelsea Hotel, albeit briefly. One of the characters (an Irish Madame) lives here in the late 70s. This is a fictional play, however, and the character is not based on anyone.

Former Hotel Chelsea resident Leonard Cohen will be inducted into the "Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame." Willie Nelson and Rufus Wainwright are scheduled to pay tribute and sing his classic songs. You can listen in on CBC Radio One on Feb. 6 starting at 11 a.m., with a two-hour broadcast that same day on the Radio Two service starting at 8 p.m. Radio-Canada's Espace Musique will air a highlights package on the 6th from 10 a.m. to noon.
