David Johnston's new play, Candy & Dorothy is based on the lives of bohemians Dorothy Day and Candy Darling. Candy Darling was one of Warhol's "superstars," and starred in "Chelsea Girls." Born James Slattery, Darling died of leukemia on March 21, 1974, at the age of 29. She was memorialized in Lou Reed's songs "Walk on the Wild Side" and "Candy Says" and was played by Stephen Dorff in the 1996 film "I Shot Andy Warhol." (Closes January 28) (Photo by Laura Rubin)

Charlie Huston will read from yet another new book, "Already Dead." At least this time the bad guys don't hole up at the Chelsea. On his blog, read how he spent part of his holiday reshelving "Already Dead" at Barnes & Noble. I then cased the joint for sales people and finding none in sight I moved my pile of books to the paperback favorites table where it stood out nicely next to something by some guy called Henry Miller or something. Bland cover that Miller guy has, anyone reaching for his book is certain to be visually redirected to mine. Gonna outsell that motherfucker for sure.
