The Chelsea Hotel is one of 10 hotels featured in an article in the New York Times about budget hotels in New York City.  Budget is defined as being in the $250.00 per night or less range. Good luck getting the suite pictured in the article for less than $250.00 per night. 

There is one other interesting point about this article.  The Japanese artist Hiroya ( well known for his colorful personality) whose work is shown hanging in the stairwell of the Chelsea is himself pictured in the photograph hanging on the wall of the Gershwin Hotel.  There's a bit of history behind all of this.  The Gershwin is where Hiroya, a long time Chelsea Hotel resident died.
