A man who allegedly held up a midtown bank was captured yesterday after a customer slipped out of the teller's line and followed the suspect to a hotel, taking three taxis to keep on the suspect's zig-zag trial through Manhattan traffic.
Jonnie William Powell, alleged robber of Manhattan Savings Bank, was captured after bank customer James Godwin followed him to Chelsea Hotel and called police. Police say they recovered bank's $10,960 (M). (NEW YORK TIMES, August 28, 1974)
