From Friday's issue of the Daily News,
Legendary theatrical costumer William Ivy Long (And Former Chelsea Resident) was feted by Hollywood scribe Paul Rudnick, playwright Wendy Wasserstein and choreographer Susan Stroman on Monday to celebrate his 50th Broadway show.
Rudnick told the gathering at the Central Park Boathouse, which included Hugh Jackman, that he first met Long decades ago just as he was engaging in a farting contest with a fellow Yale Drama School student.
Then there was the time, 20-odd years ago, when he attended a "benefit auction" that Long was holding at his Chelsea Hotel apartment. The prize was a male hustler who would go to the highest bidder, male or female.
"Rudnick said: 'It turned out the prostitute was a Yale Drama School grad, too,'" one party guest tells me.
