On Jan. 8, Community Board 4 released their official response to the Hudson Yard Development Plans. A few of the issues raised in the document include:
1. There is too much density
2. There is no public infrastructure and no commitment to build one
3. There is no plan for public housing
4. All of the plans seem like private conclaves
In an recent issue of Chelsea Now, Greenwich Village Society for Historical Preservation Executive Director Andrew Berman writes about the proposed development plans and states "...in most respects, one plan is more horrible than the next. And if any of them are built as currently configured, it will be devastating for our neighborhoods and, I believe, for the City as a whole."
One thing to keep in mind is that the West Side Stadium did not get built because of the public's opposition to the plan. These development plans could meet the same fate.
