The Globesity Festival, a performance extravaganza about overconsumption, is taking place this week at Theater for the New City. The events are all free and each performer is participating in a week long juice fast. Starting Monday evening, the keynote speaker--comedian, civil rights activist and author Dick Gregory, will speak at 7 pm. On Tuesday, Penny Arcade interviews Abby Ellin, author of Teenage Waistland. There are panel discussions on Eating Good in the Hood, Art and Activism, and Eating to Cure Disease. Great Small Works and Reverend Billy perform on Friday evening. But every night has great performances. And, did we mention it's all free? Go, expand your consciousness, curb your food obsessions and keep your wallet intact.
