So the suck-butt City Council approved the garage-in-the-sky plan for the condo building on West 24th Streeet. Though I was initially opposed to it, I suppose, when you think of it, it's not that much
different from a standard multi-level parking garage. Still, there is the principal of the matter to consider -- the principal being that dunderheads with more money than brains should be thwarted in their hair-brained schemes whenever possible. But I applaud the end result, which is that the rich will spend less time on the street with the rest of us. West Chelsea is getting seriously overcrowded already -- and none of those High Line condos have opened yet!
But, hey, theres an idea: the rich can have their on city-in-the-sky, all the building connected by the High Line, so they dont' have to go down to the street at all. Why do I get the feeling that I'm not the first one who's thought of that. Let's all check out the High Line on opening day, because I'm sure that after that, rabble such as ourselves will be confined to the street. -- Ed Hamilton
