Chelsea Bomb Blast

Around 1:00 am today, a pipe bomb exploded in this 29th Street theater (the red building in the photo), located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues.  Police say the bomb was located in a flower pot outside the building and no one was hurt.  The theater, Studio Dante, is owned by a cast member of The Sopranos, Michael Imperioli.  The block was cordoned off and at 8:00 am residents were still waiting to get into their apartments.  One unhappy woman had been waiting since the explosion had occurred.  Another man, camped out on the sidewalk, had been waiting since 1:30 am retrieve his car and drive home from work.  "It's parked on the wrong side of the street.  If I leave, it will get towed," he said.  His car was parked across the street from the explosion, but it wasn't damaged. "I was lucky,"  he said.  "It could have blown up."
